Abstract:
Outstanding engineers play a pivotal role in coordinating the development of different education fields, driving scientific and technological innovations, and cultivating talents. Therefore, cultivating a large batch of outstanding engineers in the field of higher education could satisfy the new needs of economic and social development, cultivating constellations of outstanding engineers. Considering the intention of national policy and the immediate needs of talents, the advantage of outstanding engineers is their cross-disciplinary expertise. Therefore, the key of cultivating outstanding engineers lies in cross-disciplinary education. Currently, the cultivation of outstanding engineers is still in its infancy, as there is no traditional experience or cultivation paradigms. It faces some practical dilemmas, such as cognitive deviations, practical deviations, and faculty deviations, which restrict the achievement of the cultivation goals. Therefore, given the national policy of cultivating outstanding engineers and the above-mentioned obstacles, the cultivation of outstanding engineers should focus on making breakthroughs in the field of coordinating mechanism of cross-disciplinary education, implementation of cross-disciplinary teaching plans, and supply of cross-disciplinary education resources, to construct actionable pathways for cultivating outstanding engineers.
