The Status, Objective and Teaching Mode of the China Overview Course for International Students

The course of China Overview should be regarded as one of the core courses in the general education curriculum for international students and a series of courses with China and Chinese culture as the theme should be built around this course for international students. The main objective of the China Overview course is to cultivate students' comprehensive understanding of China and its culture, and at the same time, it should also take into account the three-ability objectives of cultivating multicultural awareness and intercultural communication ability, strengthening academic research ability and improving the ability to use Chinese. Accordingly, in terms of teaching mode, the course structure of "independent learning, classroom interaction and exploratory activities" and the integrated teaching framework of "taking into account language and content and combining multi-disciplinary knowledge" can be adopted, taking task as the basic unit of teaching activities.
