A Comparative Perspective on Community Education for the Elderly: Experiences of Hong Kong and Macao and Practice of Guangdong

Abstract
Promoting community education for the elderly is an important part of actively developing elderly education in the context of population aging. Through analyzing the concept and policy practice of community education for the elderly in Hong Kong and Macao, it is found that defining the position of community education for the elderly in the education system, multi-stakeholders' participation in education governance, selecting specific content of community education for different elderly groups and emphasizing quality assurance system are the main important experiences of community education for the elderly in Hong Kong and Macao. Based on the experiences of Hong Kong and Macao and the existing framework of community education for the elderly in Guangdong, the route for improving community education for the elderly in Guangdong may include the following content: understanding the value of elderly education and building a framework for community education practice for the elderly, focusing on the education needs of the elderly and promoting the curriculum construction, paying equal attention to the construction of educational resources and quality supervision and constructing an education quality assurance system for the community education for the elderly.
