Abstract:
Currently, digital technology has become an important driving factor for the internationalization of Chinese enterprises. Based on the data of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2021, this paper empirically studies whether digital transformation helps the international development of Chinese enterprises. The study finds that through management empowerment, financing empowerment, innovation empowerment and production empowerment, digital transformation significantly promotes the international development of Chinese enterprises, and helps Chinese enterprises to go global with high quality. Further analysis shows that digital transformation has a "short-term single optimization" and "long-term double optimization" effect on the international development of Chinese enterprises, which helps Chinese enterprises to achieve long-term development on the basis of high-quality going global. Three policy insights can be drawn: first, increase support for digital transformation of enterprises to build new advantages for Chinese enterprises in international competition; second, focus on the enabling function of digital technology, and promote the in-depth fusion of digital technology and the real economy in a targeted manner; and third, set up a support mechanism for the initial stage of internationalization of enterprises, and promote the long-term development of internationalization of enterprises.
